She is interested in how communications activities shape local and global thought and action around human rights and international relations. She is passionate about using her creativity, story-telling skills, and digital network to advocate for peace, prosperity, and human rights of all people.

She is an alumnus of Occidental College where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Diplomacy & World Affairs. Passionate about gender equality, she minored in Gender, Women, & Sexuality Studies and takes a transnational feminist approach to her work. In 2020, she earned a certificate from the Global Institute of Human Rights at the University of Pennsylvania’s Carey Law School.

Outside of work, Maya is a member of her local UNA-USA chapter, advocating for the realization values of the UN in her local community and at the national level. She is also deeply connected to Girl Rising, the global campaign for girls’ education and empowerment which all began when she was an inaugural member of the Girl Rising Young Leaders Task Force. In her free time she enjoys planning adventures with her friends, cooking new foods, and curling up with a good book and a glass full of cold brew.
